2020 Vintage Report
2020 was a moderately warm growing season. A variety of factors, including a cooler end to 2019 and rain events during bloom in late May, contributed to a smaller crop yield than average. Moderate to high summer temperatures leading into harvest allowed for slow and even grape maturity. Harvest began on Riverview Vineyard on September 14th with our Chardonnay and concluded on October 16th with our Carménère. The resulting wines have a depth of aroma and a rich structure.
Notable in this lineup is a wine that we have affectionately been calling our “Fielding Hills Black Label”. The label was born out of a desire to highlight distinct qualities that emerge during the grape growing and winemaking process. Vintage-to-vintage, we expect our “Black Label” wines to change as we spotlight different qualities that impress us in a specific vintage. For 2020, the wine is a 50/50 field blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
